Friends,

Over the last couple weeks President Trump & the Republican Congress passed one of the most significant pieces of legislation of our lifetimes. The GOP Tax Cuts & Jobs act will allow our businesses to be more competitive & our families to bring home more money to buy that bigger house, better education, or simply save for their future. Many people are angry about this still simply because of the hyper-partisanship & divisiveness that plagues our country nowadays.

However- this time of year we are reminded of the things that truly unite us all & leave behind the worldly concerns that create division. We all come together to celebrate the birth of the Savior of all...

The New York Times and Washington Post reported last Thursday of possibly appointing AR-Senator Tom Cotton to CIA Director.  The tentative plan calls for Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to be ousted and replaced by CIA Director Mike Pompeo, with Cotton filling Pompeo's vacancy, the newspapers reported.

So what would happen to our Senate seat if this appointment does happen?

First, in order to serve, Cotton would need to be nominated by Trump and confirmed by the Senate, where Republicans hold 52 of 100 seats.

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, would appoint a replacement to serve until the voters chose Cotton's successor in the next general election.

  • Under the U.S. Constitution, Hutc...

Republicans have an almost-supermajority in the Legislature and are looking to next November with positivity.  We have several seats to flip and Doyle Webb, chairman of the RPA said in an interview with Arkansas Online that the part is looking at some seats in northwest Arkansas as well as some seats down south.

Here are some key things to note and watch for over the coming months:

  • Republicans are looking to take control of a majority of county-level seats. Democrats still hold more than half of those offices.

  • As of late last week, two Republicans, Wade Andrews of Camden and Ricky Lattimore of McGehee, had announced plans to run for Democratic-held seats in the Legislature.

Memorial Day for so many is a three day weekend, a fresh

start to summer, first day on the lake, or to a majority of TV personalities - a way to sell hot dogs, hamburgers, fresh fruits and backyard grills.  Enjoy this time spent with your family.  Enjoy the freedom to shop, cook, and relax without the stress of work on a Monday.  However, while you are enjoying this freedom and relaxation - I hope you will at least take a moment to remember why we have this freedom and who sacrificed to give you this freedom.

A little background you might not know - and in doing research for this piece, I'm not quite sure we even teach this in our classrooms anymore.

Memorial Day started in...

Late on Wednesday night, the Senate confirmed Senator Jeff Sessions as Attorney General making him the 6th of Trump's cabinet nominees to be confirmed.  Senator Sessions follows Betsy Devos' confirmation as Secretary of Education which came on Tuesday 2/7 in a historical tie-breaking vote by Vice President Pence.

President Trump has been running his administration on a skeleton crew since his inauguration.  Both President Obama and Bush 43 had their cabinet members approved on their first day in office.

All in all the team that President Trump has assembled includes the likes of wealthy businessmen, two generals, conservative politicians, a...

Every January growing up, right as we went back to school, we were given a Monday off to honor the great Dr. Martin Luther King.  It was a day devoted to Sunday night sleepovers (which never happened in our household on school nights) and sleeping in late.  During college it was devoted to a long weekend preparing for rush and sorority pledge week.  Flash forward 10 years and working a full time job - and it is barely considered a holiday.  It made me question why we have this holiday.  Why is it printed on every calendar yet all I was really taught about the man was the fact that he gave a speech with the infamous words “I have a dream”.

This man is a hero...

President Obama gave his Farewell Speech on Tuesday night as he closes out his tenure as President of the United States.

His transcript is below.

It’s good to be home.  My fellow Americans, Michelle and I have been so touched by all the well-wishes we’ve received over the past few weeks.  But tonight it’s my turn to say thanks.  Whether we’ve seen eye-to-eye or rarely agreed at all, my conversations with you, the American people – in living rooms and schools; at farms and on factory floors; at diners and on distant outposts – are what have kept me honest, kept me inspired, and kept me going.  Every day, I learned from you.  You made me a better President, and you made me a better ma...
