This week's Republican National Convention committee meetings are being held this week in Cleveland preceding next week's Republican National Convention. The meeting will be attended by 112 members and are tasked with drafting the GOP's platform for the convention next week.
"Attorney General Leslie Rutledge, former attorney for the RNC, and businessman John Nabholz are set to be in Cleveland this week. Both are delegates for presumptive nominee Donald Trump, the billionaire and reality television star who won Arkansas' primary in March."
The committee, during this week's meetings are looking to focus and unity behind GOP principles and avoid delaying progress by arguing and prolonged disagreements over specific policies.
"This election is critical for the future of our country, not simply for four years, but this election is critical for 40 years and perhaps two to three generations," Rutledge said last week."
"My focus and purpose is to make sure that anything we do will stand the test of time and something's that good four years from now and eight years from now," said Nabholz, who is retired from his family's construction company.
Several issues being discussed this week include gun control laws, the polarizing North American Free Trade Agreement, the Trans-Pacific Partnership, same-sex marriage, pornography, and abortion - which Trump believes should include exceptions for rape, incest, and the mother's help.
"...Quite frankly, for someone who is pro-life there is only one option when it comes to political parties and that's the Republican Party." - Rutledge added in her interview. "
As the committee meetings occur this week, different issues will take center stage. The committee members are hoping that these issues will begin to unify the party in lieu of the Convention next week. During the convention the party will hear the updated GOP Platform that is crafted this week and will adopt it prior to the speeches from Trump and the VP. As young republicans it is our right and our duty to follow the committee meetings and let our voice be heard. Click Here to be redirected to the GOP's website and provide your feedback now.
